Cozy Pet Friendly Sandy River View Cabin

Enjoy scenic views of the Sandy River from this cozy cabin in Welches. Riversong Retreat offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by second-growth forest, with a scenic river trail nearby.

About this property

Enjoy the surrounding forest and scenic views of the Sandy River. Riversong Retreat is a cabin in the Welches valley, with soaring tongue-and-groove ceilings, warm wood throughout, and a peaceful loft above the main floor with beautiful views. Managed by Cascadia Getaways for 24/7 support.

The cabin is built around a great room with a vaulted tongue-and-groove ceiling that draws the eye up through two full stories of warm pine. Large windows face the surrounding second-growth forest and Sandy River area, with filtered light and the river audible through the trees. Curl up by the wood fire stove and enjoy the sounds of the river or relax in the upstairs loft, which offers beautiful views of the river and surrounding area.

Main floor: a comfortable sitting area with armchairs and a couch, coffee table, dining space, and a full kitchen stocked for cooking in. Two bedrooms, one queen and one bunk room with a shared bathroom.

A staircase leads to an upstairs loft with a single daybed — a peaceful perch above the main floor with beautiful river views and a great space for yoga, relaxing or watching the projector screen.

Outside, a short scenic trail through the trees offers views of the Sandy River. There is no river access from the trail. Swimming and wading are not permitted. The river is swift and dangerous, and the bank is unstable. The surrounding scenery is especially beautiful in autumn when the cottonwoods turn gold.

Also outside there is a fire pit with propane insert to gather round and listen to the sounds of the river. There is a table for dining and our door grill to take in nature while enjoying a meal. There is also an area to hang hammocks which are at the property.

The area

Welches sits in the Sandy River valley at the base of Mt. Hood, surrounded by second-growth forest and private land. It's quiet here by design — a small local store, a few restaurants, and the river.

From the cabin: Ramona Falls trailhead ~15 min | Old Salmon River Trail ~10 min | Sandy River rafting put-in ~10 min | Timberline Lodge ~30 min | Mt. Hood Meadows ski area ~35 min | Town of Sandy (full grocery) ~20 min | Portland ~60 min.

Summer brings hiking, mountain biking, and scenic walks along the river trail. Winter opens up Timberline, Meadows, and Ski Bowl — three ski areas within 40 miles.

Sandy Ridge Mountain Bike Park is approximately 5 minutes away.

A car is essential — with limited transit options to Welches. We do have shuttle service recommendations in the guestbook. The cabin is located on a gravel road in a neighborhood. Sandy (full grocery, pharmacy) is ~20 miles west. Portland is roughly 60 miles via Highway 26 — plan 60–75 minutes depending on traffic.
